The Tertulia author website builder does one clever thing: you paste in an ISBN and it builds an author site from your book’s data. It costs $7.99 or $15.99 a month billed annually, comes from the Tertulia bookstore, and says it is used by more than 8,500 authors. For an author who wants a professional site this afternoon with no decisions, it is a fair deal. For an author building a reader list that sells the next book, the cheaper plan leaves out the parts that matter.

What it does well

The setup is the product. You give it an ISBN and, optionally, an Instagram handle, and it assembles book pages, retailer links, reviews, and an about section without you choosing a template or writing HTML. The designs are book-first and quiet, which is what author sites should be and rarely are. A free domain for the first year on both plans is a real saving.

What it lacks

Everything to do with owning your readers sits on Pro. Reader magnets, email campaigns, and direct sales are the $15.99 plan, so the $7.99 plan is a brochure. Even on Pro, the email tooling is campaign-level rather than a full automation platform, so a multi-step nurture sequence is not what this is for. There is no course or workshop delivery if you teach writing.

Pros
  • Builds a complete author site from an ISBN in minutes
  • Quiet, book-led designs that suit fiction and non-fiction
  • Free .com domain for the first year on both plans
  • 14-day trial with Pro features and no card
Cons
  • Reader magnets and email campaigns are Pro only, at twice the price
  • Email is campaign-based, not a sequence builder
  • No course, workshop, or membership delivery
  • Billing is presented annually; the effective commitment is a year

How it compares

Against a free systeme.io site, Tertulia wins on speed and on looking like an author site out of the box, and loses on the reader list: automated magnet delivery, sequences, and a 0% checkout are free there and $15.99 here. Against Squarespace at $19, Tertulia is cheaper and more specialised. Against BookBub’s free author websites, it costs money and gives you a custom domain and direct sales.

We have not run a site on Tertulia ourselves. This review is based on the vendor’s own pages, captured on the date above.
